How to Create a Landing Page That Converts: A Step-by-Step Blueprint

May 15, 2023 By Jenny Godfrey

How to Create a Landing Page That Converts: A Step-by-Step Blueprint

If you’re looking to boost conversions on your website, then a highly effective landing page is a must-have. But what makes a landing page truly effective? It’s not just about having the right ads or traffic. It’s about having a landing page that speaks to your audience’s needs and solves their problems.

At Concept Designs & Marketing, we have been building websites and landing pages for 20+ years. Over that time, have built many landing pages and have developed a landing page blueprint that consists of seven key steps. Rest assured your landing page will have a long-lasting impact on conversion of your audience. Whilst we follow our formula, we also tailor the landing page specific to your audience and business goals.

Step 1: The Hero Section

The hero section is what makes or breaks your landing page. It’s the first thing your audience sees, and you have just seconds to get their attention. Use this section to tell them what you do, why it matters to them, and how they can access those benefits.

Step 2: Problem and Solution

Once you’ve captured your audience’s attention, it’s time to talk about their main problem and how you’re going to solve it. Use the classic “pain, agitate, solution” framework to address their pain points, empathise with them, and offer a clear solution to their problem.

Step 3: Benefits

Differentiate yourself from your competitors by highlighting the unique benefits that only you can offer. We use a three-piece format to present each benefit: title, feature description, and a visual to sum it up.

Step 4: Testimonials

Social proof is a powerful tool in marketing. We use testimonials from satisfied customers to build credibility and trust with your audience. This is the perfect opportunity to embed your Google reviews into your website. This creates a live feed from your Google review, so that when people leave you a 5‑star review, it automatically populates onto your landing page.

Step 5: Features

After highlighting the benefits, it’s time to dive into the features of your product or service. This is where we can be descriptive and show how your features make your solution possible.

Step 6: Play the Tape Forward

This section is all about showing your audience what their future could look like if they use your product or service. Here we use storytelling to paint a vivid picture of the results they can expect.

Step 7: FAQs

Address the top questions people would typically ask you over a phone conversation. This is also a great opportunity to include any remaining concerns or questions that your audience may have about your product or service. This helps to remove any remaining barriers to conversion. Plus, to be honest, Google loves FAQ’s on websites.

By following these seven steps, we can create a landing page for your business that speaks directly to your audience’s needs and ultimately drives conversions. Remember your key marketing messages need to always focus on your customer and their pain points. That way you’ll be well on your way to engaging your audience where they need you most.
